Fresh Pizza Sauce

Homemade pizza sauce is super easy and tastes delicious! There are many ways of making pizza sauce. Growing up in an Indian household, we typically made our pizza sauce with a bit of a spicy kick to it, but sometimes you just want to have a simple sauce for a great tasting pizza. This is that sauce! Simple but delicious!
*My Pizza Sauce is orange in color because I prefer to use home jarred tomatoes as opposed to store bought canned tomatoes. This recipe works perfectly fine with canned tomatoes if you have them handy, just be mindful of the amount of salt that you add in your sauce as canned tomatoes can have a higher salt content.
1 16 oz jar/can of Whole Tomatoes (See my Recipe on how to make your own)
6 oz of Tomato Paste
3-4 Cloves of Garlic
1/2 Cup of Chopped Yellow Onion
2-3 Tbs of Olive Oil
2-3 Tbs of Salt (Or To Your Taste)
Roughly 1 Tbs of Freshly cracked Black Pepper
In a medium size sauce pan, start off by sautéing your onion in a few table spoons of olive oil. I would recommend doing this on medium heat as olive oil can burn easily if you cook with it on a high flame. After about 5 min of sautéing your onion, add a pinch of salt. If you add the salt to soon, your onions will sweat instead of brown. Then go ahead and add your garlic. Once the garlic looks like it is starting to brown, go ahead and add in your tomato paste and coat your onions and garlic with the paste. Then add in your 16 oz jar of tomatoes. Bring your sauce to a boil, and then turn it down to a low simmer. Let this simmer for about 15 min with the lid semi on. Once you can see that the sauce has fully cooked the tomatoes and is nice and red in color, it is done.
Let the sauce cool down and then blend it into a smooth sauce using a blender. If you prefer a more rustic texture to your pizza sauce, you can also crush the components of the sauce and use it as is. To finish it off, add in your black pepper and taste your sauce to make sure the salt level is perfect. Then spread over your favorite pizza crust and enjoy!
